Disney’s Big Thunder Mountain Train Set

When I first saw this Disney Big Thunder Mountain Starter Set at Epcot’s Food and Garden Festival I immediately knew what I wanted for Father’s Day. Trains have a special meaning to any fan of Walt Disney and I’ve always wanted a train set in my backyard just like Uncle Walt had. The set is from LGB and it is in G-Scale, which makes it a little unusual for American audiences, but it’s still very cool.

Walt Disney Wax Figure on eBay

Monorails, Attraction Vehicles, Signs, Costumes, even Club 33 toilet towels, have all been auctioned off on eBay at one time or another. This one, however, takes the cake. A Walt Disney Life Size Wax Museum Figure is being auctioned off by MouseSurplus.

Artist/Designer Pete Carsillo created the one-of-a-kind piece. Carsillo has worked in the past with the official Disney sculptor, Blaine Gibson. Gibson’s work includes Mr. Lincoln and the Partners Statue of Walt and Mickey that sits in the hub at Disneyland and The Magic Kingdom.

Mickey Mouse Ears the new hot collectible

Mickey Mouse Ears are a traditional favorite souvenir for those trips to the parks. They got their start with the Mickey Mouse Club, which debuted in conjunction with the opening of Disneyland in California. So the two are inextricably tied together. For a long time the design was pretty standard and unchanging, except for a few variations from early in Disneyland’s history and based on location. This rarity of design combined with the nostalgia element made the rare versions very collectible.

In just the last year Disney Theme Parks have begun to explore the true potential of Mickey Mouse Ears. It started with the gold ears for the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland and a few variations. Since then there have been holiday specific dated ears, Hawaiian print ears, princess ears, and now even Stitch and Tinkerbell ears. The variety continues to grow making Mickey Mouse Ears the new hot collectible.
